A few light pieces
Not all poetry needs to be stone-cold serious and weighty. Here are 5 short, light poems; I hope you enjoy.
Bursting
Too many, too much, Far too much I read, thought, Touched today- Scrambled is my brain, A grey egg, scrambled, Fit for naught, Ought to be gambled away. Or caught, Trapped in clay, Never sought, Nor fished out— Till April, maybe May, I can go without.
Skiing rhyme
The crows float downslope More carefree than me; With numb, bloodless feet And calves that can’t cope. I’ll forget the hope Of reds: stick to greens, Drink pricey coffee, Watch the pros, and mope.
Rain
The rain pounds and pounds Against the window. A question: What’s so bad up there, To be so anxious to come in?
Mont blanc
A white expanse— Mountains slumber and snore, Sending snowflakes careening Through air, looking to be Caught and meditated upon For their beauty by a child, Or their fractal symmetry By a mathematician. Mont Blanc clears its throat And coughs up a blizzard— He acts asleep, But I know this is a defiant ‘Get off!’.
It’s true
Birds rarely commiserate But when the worm is blue They do

Been trying to figure out what a blue worm is for the past 10 minutes hahahah
